The heart of the mixer is a series of parallel rollers, between which up to 10 sample-filled 16 x 100mm test tubes (or 20 small control vials) are cradled. During operation, rollers slowly rotate and oscillate, subjecting the sample tubes to full axial rotation and slow front-to-back rocking motion at a speed of 24 rpms. Unique agitation delicately churns and undulates the tube contents, causing the air bubble (extra space in the tube not filled by the sample) to uniformly wipe the inside tube wall, cleaning it of cells and sedimentation.
